PROGRAMAS:

Foundation and Design Program

Whatever your likely career path and desired endpoint in the field of entertainment design–be it in character design or environment design, visual effects, or another one of the many specialist 2D and 3D roles available–it is essential to gain a strong and balanced understanding of the fundamentals of good design, as well as the principles, techniques, and best practices that make up the bedrock of the entire industry. That’s where CGMA’s Foundation & Design Program comes in.

Environment Design Program

CGMA’s Environment Design Program has been designed to give artists the skills and know-how necessary to tackle this discipline in any medium, featuring classes that cover all key aspects of natural and solid-surface environment design, matte painting and sketching, narrative illustration, and composition.

Character Design Program

Designed for those already versed in the fundamentals of drawing and design, this program carefully builds on those core skills to give students head-to-toe training in the art of human and creature character design for the entertainment industries. By the end of the program, students will be ideally placed to make the leap to a character design/concept art position at a film, animation, games, or print-based studio.

Visual Storytelling and IP Development Program

Storytelling lies at the heart of everything for artists working in the entertainment industry. This is an arena where every picture really does tell a story, and where the image is both a means of communication and a form of expression. Now, thanks to the billions being invested in the creation of original content by the likes of Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, the demand for artists with a firm grasp of narrative and the art of storytelling is greater than ever.

On a practical level, the challenge for artists hoping to succeed in this field is to ensure their images, concepts, and designs make an intellectual connection as well as an emotional one–successfully conveying ideas, concepts, and entire narratives with economy and creative flair. The key to this is a solid understanding of both the classic rules of storytelling and the contemporary methods utilized by visual creatives working across all entertainment industries.
